February 11th - 2012 Blynu Balius (Pancake Ball!) and February 26th - Commemoration remembrance of Ona Razutiene
Save the date February 11th for a ONE OF A KIND BLYLNU BALIUS of all Blynu Baliai. We are celebrating the 50th one, and the 25th of the generations under the leadership of Danguole Razutyte Varniene.
Ona Razutiene, the founder of Spindulys, died at the 25th Blynu Balius On February 28th, 1987. This event alone is legendary and part of the history of Los Angeles Lithuanian-American Community of Los Angeles. THE next 25 years Spindulys has been under the leadership of her daughter Danguole. It is poetic to say that the continuity was not broken! The purposes for keeping the Lithuanian heritage traditions alive in the youth of Los Angeles were enhanced with the subsequent recognized independence of Lithuanian in 1991, and the Blynu Balius tradition continued to celebrate passing of the baton to the new generations of Lithuanian-American youth.
Reserve your tables now. We expect a full house and will be expanding our celebration to include St Casimir Parish Hall, the space outside and the downstairs hall as well. Be a part of this history making event! For reservations or further information contact Danguole Varnas by email: spindulys@aol.com.
On February 26th there will be a memorial mass and following events at St. Casimir's Church and Hall remembering and honoring Ona Razutiene the founder of Spindulys who passed away 25 years ago.
